“I believe that I am out of the list…”

Cesar Ramirez (Flamengo, Brazil) affirmed that he believes that he won’t be in the player’s list for the next World Cup. He told to the press in Rio de Janerio that
‘If I was playing more often in Flamengo, my chances of been call would be higher, and because of that everyone knows that I am out”.

Ramirez is competing for a place in the player’s list with Nelson Cuevas (Pachuca, Mexico), who in its own words, is regularly playing in his team and has more chances. “The list is done, and I have only few hopes”. To make it worst, he said that the last time he spoke with the coach was 20 days ago.

Asked if he feels responsible for this situation, Waldemar Lemos (Flamengo’s coach) said that the national coaches, make their decision considering the performance of 3 or 4 years, and because he is not the coach of Paraguay, he is not responsible for Ramirez exclusion.

Although Ramirez made good performances playing for Cerro Porteno team (Parguay), the fans always were skeptical about his international performances. Ramirez was included in the list of player in France ’98 as one of the younger player but didn’t play in any match. There is a myth that in that World Cup he was afraid of playing and because of this attitude and Chilavert critics he wasn’t called to participate in the national team in the whole Korea/Japan ’02 process. He made his way back to the national team after good performances in Cerro and the retirement of Chilavert.
