AbstinenceWatch: Players just want to have fun…
In an odd event the journalist of DN, a Swedish newspaper reported that they received a call after the match that Paraguay played against Denmark made by Manuel Hoffman (Fifa translator) on behalf of Roberto Acuña, saying that the Paraguayan player wanted to meet her.
The journalist Emelie Asplund (who previously to the match had photographed and interviewed Acuña) confirmed this situation, requesting to Hoffman if his function was getting women to the players, he responded apologizing for the call and telling that his function is translating for the player even the phone calls.
Even though that the journalist didn’t said if the call was offensive because of its content or the hour that was made, it seems that she is really angry.
We need to remember than the Paraguayan coach didn’t mention a thing about the abstinence of sex during the World Cup, but we need to try to understand the players, they are alone, surrounding by dudes, and if they need to make a “move” they even need a translator. The real thing is know if the girls see the use of a translator as a turn-on or turn-off, apparently, the Swedish’s don’t like it. Lets see what will be the wife’s opinions. ![]()

I have just read that Acuna nay face a world cup ban for asking the swedish photographer on a date. What am I missing? He asked her out, nothing happened.
How does this result in a ban? Was a law broken that I am not aware of? Lighten up. I hope the decisionmakers apply common sense. no harm, no foul.

God, people take this so far. Its pure Latin culture here, just complimenting a good looking woman. But no, harassment. What the hell is the world coming to?

What I didn’t understood about this situation is if the journalist was upset because she was asked out or because a member from the World Cup organization “mediate” a date for the player.
All this is very odd, a couple of days ago members from the Paraguayan Football Association said that they believe that this is really a “psychological war” before the World Cup.
