Anti-aerial defense against England.

June 7th, 2006 | By: Daniel | No Comments »

In the last practices of the national team, Coach Ruiz is increasing the practice and strategies to stop the aerial plays of the English team. Taking notes about the problems that Paraguay had in its match against Norway, where we received two “heading” goals, the defense is practicing all the time plays that involve centers, corners and free-kicks.

Carlos Gamarra and Julio Cesar Caceres, the central defense will be in charge of guarding the giant Crouch. And in the other hand, Cristian Riveros and Delio Toledo will guard the British Captain David Beckham, trying to stop from the beginning all its passes.

Its looks than Paraguay is more concern about the air passes than the speed of the British team, that is understandable because the coach will use a strategy of 4-4-2, putting a very defensive team that probably will mark in two instances, so it will be difficult to England to surprise Paraguay with a speed run or something like that.
