As always Coach Ruiz is satisfied…
Anibal Ruiz affirms that after the match against Mexico everything is clear, and he had defined the list of 23 players that will travel to Germany. Asked by the performance of the team, he answered that “nothing’s change… the game served to confirm what we knew about every player”. About the match he told “Ultima Hora” that he observed more each individual performance than the team performance, “collectively it didn’t go well, but I was able to make some important conclusions…” What the fans wanted to know was why he didn’t take advantage of the substitutions to try other players, and Maño confirmed that he doesn’t change players, just to make changes, so our conclusion is that there were a bunch of players that appreciated the fun travel to the cold Chicago.
The newspaper “La Nacion” was a little more critique. They affirm that Paraguay “always plays only to tie, and sometimes by a mistake opens the score. The receipt did not change, even though with new players and perspectives, but the coach remains the same, and this make it hard to progress… very hard”.
What the newspapers affirms, is the same concern of all the fans. Don’t get me wrong, Maño is a great person, in any contest he will win the prize for friendship, but our concern is that he still uses the old “master plan” of playing defense to win at least one point. That plan was o.k. when Paraguay didn’t have a good team, or didn’t have any good forward, but in this kind of short tournament you cannot use that tactic. Paraguay has evolved with a lot of effort and had earned international respect. Now we have good players to begin a match attacking the other team, this was shown in some matches of the qualifying phase, but we don’t think that he will do that in the World Cup. Please Ruiz, hear the fans and don’t forget that only those who are braves are the one who the history will remember.
