Chilavert: “Paraguay has few chances in this World Cup…”
Jose Luis Chilavert, former goalkeeper and figure of the Paraguayan national team affirms that Paraguay cannot go to the World Cup with 35 years old players, like Gamarra, Acuña, and Cardozo. “I don’t have nothing against them, but their age play against them”, Chila said to the press in Asuncion.
Chilavert, since he left the Paraguayan team have a confrontation with his former team mates, specially Carlos Gamarra and the coach Ruiz. We need to remember that this is the same guy that from the beginning of the qualifying phase said that Paraguay had little chances to get a ticket to Germany.
He continued hi explanation telling that Paraguay in these circumstances will go to the World Cup with three players less. Also he said that Julio Dos Santos (Bayern Munich) did not had the chance to adapt himself to the European football and did not played enough games, so he too will be out of training.
There is nothing new in the opinions of Chilavert, who is very know from his great skills under the goal, free-kick shoots and his big mouth. In one hand, it is true that these players will be probably the elders on the World Cup. But, in the other hand, he did not mention that experience in these types of competitions is very important, and he knows that, otherwise why he played the Korea/Japan World Cup with 36 years old and overweight.
