Jose Cardozo is out, Dante Lopez is in…
Jose Saturnino “El Pepe” Cardozo, one of the historical players of the team and the one with more goals scored during the qualification has been forced out of the team through an injury. Coach Ruiz had called Dante Lopez to replace it.
We need to remember than Pepe was one of the most criticized players in the list, mainly because he was not really in good shape and wasn’t playing in its former team. San Lorenzo (Arg). We all know that Cardozo was not in its best shape, but everyone agreed that his experience was very important for this type of competition.
Cardozo, who just recover from a injury, last May, 27 in the friendly game against Denmark received some strong enters that resulted in this injury, he got also the flu and some fever during last week.
Dante Lopez, former player of Olimpia (Par) is one of the youngsters that have great potential. He had played in all the younger national teams, and during his presence in Olimpia made great presentations. His most remarkable game was against their traditional rival Cerro Porteno, where Dante scored three goals giving the victory to its team.
In one hand, Paraguay with this change gains a faster and probably stronger player, that is in very good shape, but in the other had, we looses an experience and tall player, now if Roque doesn’t make it to the first games we won’t have potential in the aerial balls in our forward line.
