This is incredible!! Although you do not seem surprised by the result Victor. Will the team let down in Bolivia?? Traditionally, how has Paraguay played in La Paz?

Brian, I was really optimistic about the Brazil game, as I am about the game against Bolivia. We are playing well and have gained a lot of momentum. Traditionally, I remember a couple of ties in La Paz; but I think we’ll win tomorrow.

Thanks Albo.

Yep, Santa Cruz looked injured and left the game in the 2nd half. He may miss the next few rounds again…..

En un a~o en el cual los grandes de Sudamerica ni se sienten, es interesante ver a Paraguay dominar las calificaciones.. :) Sin duda, ahora mismo la de Paraguay es la mejor seleccion en America Latina…

hi,
when is Martino going to wake up, and drop Justo villar, for Bobadillo.
>was at fault for the 2goals against chile,>. (should have been saved)
>was at fault for the 1st against Brazil,(the video didnt work for the 2nd..!!)
Justos positioning is seriously faulty. add ,his lack of height ,and Paraguay, are in for a early EXIT ,from South Africa in 2010

Thanks,
Villar is definitely on a slump since he is not playing regularly at Valladolid.

Still, I place most of the blame on the Chile goals on sloppy defending rather than Villar. Only Caceres was there from the regular starters. Against Brazil, Robinhos solo entry into the penalty area was our only mistake. Nilmar was able to make his shot off of a lucky rebound.

More than Villar, I worry about missing so many regulars as we did this round.

I agree, there’s no need to panic, there are still 3 home games left and Venezuela isn’t the most terrible road trip. Paraguay have done well to almost reach 4 World Cups in a row.

On the Bolivia page at http://bolivia.worldcupblog.org there is a basic preview of the Paraguay-Bolivia match and a look back at the previous matches the two have played against each other.

Well done Paraguay. Argentina deserve to miss a World Cup Finals after the cheating ‘Maradona’ hand of God incident in 1986, denied England a chance of a semi-final berth.

well done Paraguay ,lethal exhibition of counter attacking( ie just like Serie “A”)a lot different from Gerados passing game at Libertad, but VERY EFFECTIVE.

>THE ONLY WEAK SPOT, FOR ME “STILL”, IS VILLAR,( ALOVELY LAD), BUT DOES NOT COMMAND HIS 6YARD BOX, PRODUCES FORCED ERRORS, WITH HIS SHORT stops ,and punch outs.
in the space of 5min VIDEO ,there were 2 fast balls crossed in and he was caught out.only NEEDED A RICHOCHETTE, AND THEN 2 GOALS DOWN….!!!
he needs to get 2 hands to the ball and HANG ONTO IT.
> THE PRECISION OF THE DELIVERED LONG BALL, HAS IMPROVED BY ABOUT metre, from a year ago(0=0) in BUENAS AIRES
.
SUERTE,

IAN.

Que grande Paraguay!!! Y que grande Victor!!! Nice blog my friend, I love the embedded video with Gonzalez Cabello – it saves me the time of having to go and look it up on Youtube (which I never would have taken the time to do!!!) jajaja…

Y bueno – looking forward to seeing you some time in the near future – but if you’re gonna save up to go to South Africa, you probably won’t be coming through here for a few years!!!

Un abrazo…
Scott

Do you know where the Paraguay team is staying? My friends at the American University of Cairo are Latin American, and two of them are Paraguians. We wanted to go give them gifts!
