Roque is out of all the friendly matches…

May 24th, 2006 | By: Daniel | 2 Comments »

Roque Santa Cruz will rest during the whole preparation for the World Cup. The medics suggested that he doesn’t play in the friendly matches that Paraguay had booked before the World Cup starts because they don’t want to risk Roque’s recovery. Although this situation they believe that he will be available for the first match against England.

Now our doubt is how this could change the plans for this match, we saw in the game agains Norway that is not the same playing with Roque in the forward line-up than playing without him. Does he will feel comfortable playing his first game after this big injury in this important game? Will this undefined situation affect the spirit of the team? Apparently we will know that only once the game against England is over.

Not good news at all. If Santa Cruz can’t play then Cuevas and Cabanas are going to have to step up and help Valdez in attack. I don’t hold out hope for Cardozo. He’s WAY past his best and really had no business being selected for the World Cup.
