Japan Preview: Poised to make History

We are one of the 16 countries that have made it past the group stages. This is the best team we have ever sent to the World Cup and it is showing. I believe we will set more than one record in this World Cup. We have already made a great achievement, we have won our group.
Thanks to this achievement we are no longer going to face a football superpower in the Round of 16. No Germany, no France, no England. Tomorrow we face Japan, who are a very good team, but it is clear we are stronger. We have better players, we have played for years against stronger competitions. We have never gone into a Round of 16 game at the World Cup as the favorite. We will make this count.
The quarterfinals are not the final objective of Paraguay. With every game we play, we are writing a new chapter in our sports history and we are keen on writing a long book, SEVEN CHAPTERS LONG!!!!
Team news
Last I heard, Martino is hiding our line-up from the world and of course there are all sorts of rumors running around. First, it is unclear who will take the position of Victor Caceres who is suspended for this game. The likely candidates are Jonathan Santana and Nestor Ortigoza. Edgar Barreto’s name has also been thrown around, but I doubt he is fit to start such a game.
Other rumors are that Edgar “Pajaro” Benitez might start the game. He has been outstanding and I wonder if Martino is beginning to prefer Benitez over Haedo. Not sure.
Projected starting XI
Villar,
Caniza, Da Silva, Alcaraz, Morel
Vera, Santana, Riveros
Santa Cruz, Barrios, Haedo
FUERZA ALBIRROJA A VENCER O MORIR!!!!
