Paraguay’s U-17 talents attracting international attention

Several players from Paraguay’s U-17 national team are making news with transfers to European football. It is remarkable that not one but three players from the current crop are moving across the ocean. Here are their names, positions, and destinations.
Derlis Gonzalez
Originally playing in Rubio Nu he will be joining Oscar “Tacuara” Cardozo at Benfica. He is a dangerous striker who played a pivotal role in Paraguay’s recent victory over Brazil in the U-17 South American tournament taking place in Ecuador at the moment.
Rodrigo Alborno
The destination of this midfielder of Libertad will be Inter Milan. He will be the first Paraguayan at Inter since the days of Carlos Gamarra, who enjoyed a brief spell playing in the “Guiseppi Meazza”.
Rodrigo Baez
Nothing is confirmed with this talented midfielder of Olimpia, but rumors seem to indicate that the Premier League will be his destination. Blackburn Rovers have their eyes on him.
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of Mauro Caballero (striker of Libertad) following their footsteps. He was the star of the U-15 South American tournament Paraguay won in 2009.
