The U-20 World Cup start rolling in Egypt this week. Paraguay’s group includes Trinidad and Tobago, Italy, and the host country. We kick off this Friday, Sept 25, against Italy at 10:00 ET.

Paraguay finished 2nd in the South American group earlier this year. The other South American teams to qualify were Brazil (champs), Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Our team has the following players:

Goalkeepers:
Joel Silva (Guaraní)
Gerardo Ortiz (Quilmes, ARG) y
Ruben Escobar (Libertad).

Defenders:
Iván Piris (Cerro Porteño)
César Benítez (Cerro Porteño)
Ronald Huth Manzur (Vicenza, ITA)-picture
Francisco Silva (Libertad)
Rolando García (Defensa y Justicia, ARG).

Midfielders
Rodrigo Burgos (Cerro Porteño)
Celso Ortiz (Cerro Porteño),
Hernán Pérez (Villarreal, ESP),
Gustavo Cristaldo (Libertad),
Derlis Orué (12 de Octubre)
Aldo Paniagua (12 de Octubre)
Nicolás Martínez (Puebla, MEX)
Jorge Moreira (2 de Mayo)

Forwards
Robin Ramírez (Libertad)
Federico Santander (Guaraní)
Lorenzo Melgarejo (12 de Octubre)
Luis Páez (Tacuary)
Luis Caballero (Olimpia)

This is a strong team with several players with 1st division experience. We are bound to make trouble.

The “Albirrojita” trained for a week in Barcelona before arriving to Cairo on Sunday.

Fuerza Albirroja!!!!!

Do you know where the Paraguay team is staying? My friends at the American University of Cairo are Latin American, and two of them are Paraguians. We wanted to go give them gifts!
